Clear your mind of everything you “know”
about substance addiction.

For now, forget about:

addiction treatment,

recovery groups,

the disease concept of addiction,

brain chemistry,

interventions,

and, at least for now, get these ideas out of your head:

alcoholic,

addict,

codependency,

spirituality,

enablers,

relapes,

sobriety.

These are all examples of Addictive Voice.

The Addictive Voice is any thinking that supports or suggests
continued addiction to alcohol or other drugs.

Look above, and notice that all of those concepts strongly suggest that your addicted family member will probably continue using alcohol and/or other drugs, especially if he doesn’t comply with certain kinds of support, guidance, therapy, treatment, and help.

Focus only on your addicted family member’s offensive behavior, because that is the problem at hand.
